About ElectricKit
The ElectricKit has been developed in order to update a traditional cast iron cooker to a more efficient and economical oven, ready for the challenges of rising fuel costs and climate change.
Your ElectricKit cooker has been stripped down and all the old, inefficient parts, the burner and obsolete insulation have gone. You will instead have a well-insulated, controllable cooker that will never run out of heat.
If you have cooked on a cast iron range for many years, the absolute joy of the ElectricKit is that it never runs out of heat – you can cook all day long and the thermostatically controlled ovens and hotplates will be as hot at the end of the day as they were at the start.
The hotplates have new electric elements installed underneath them. These are infinitely controllable, they can be set to any temperature you like with the dial. If you want two gently simmering plates, you can have them, or two fiercely hot boiling plates, no problem, just turn the dial.
The ovens reach 200C in about 90 minutes from cold and the hotplates reach no 7 in about half an hour from cold. Heat-up times are a great deal faster if you keep the ovens on all the time, depending on the season.
